Managing Director, Real Estate Development
Chris has an accomplished background in sophisticated business environments, with experience in real estate, financial services and trading. For the past 17 years Chris has focused on developments in New York City and has worked on over 30 different projects totaling over 1 million square feet and ranging from brownstone renovations to a 34 story ground-up residential tower. Chris’ current responsibilities at Glacier include sourcing investment opportunities, and managing development projects through completion and sellout. He is proficient in construction methodology for both ground up development and the conversion of existing structures.
Previously Chris was an institutional equity trader for Goldman Sachs and Valores Finamex International. He was primarily involved with institutional sales and trading in Latin American Equities and Foreign Exchange. He actively traded a $100 million proprietary trading portfolio as well as managed and cultivated institutional accounts that held in excess of $500 billion in assets under management.
Chris attended Columbia University with a concentration in economics and Polytechnic University with a concentration in electrical engineering.
Managing Director, General Counsel & Business Development
Eric is a real estate finance attorney and banker with over 20 years of experience in real estate equity investments and lending, debt restructuring, property development, conveyance and leasing. In his position at Glacier, Eric’s main responsibilities include loan structuring, closing and servicing.
Prior to Glacier, Eric spent two years as Managing Director and General Counsel of Madison Realty Capital, a commercial real estate debt origination fund where his principal responsibilities were structuring and closing new debt originations and re-structuring and working out existing portfolio loans. During his tenure, Eric led the restructuring, and in certain cases foreclosures, of over 150 transactions.
Prior to Madison, Eric worked at Bear, Stearns & Co., Inc. as a Director in its CMBS group, structuring and closing over $3.7 billion of commercial mortgages and managing the group’s $1.5 billion balance sheet lending platform, consisting of construction, re-development, bridge and mezzanine loans. Prior to Bear Stearns, Mr. Scheffler spent 11 years as a commercial real estate attorney at Winston & Strawn LLP, Blank Rome Tenzer Greenblatt LLP and Scheffler, King & Bender LLP.
Mr. Scheffler received a B.A. in economics from Colgate University and a J.D. from Fordham University.
Managing Director, Debt Origination
Ruth Barone is a Managing Director at Glacier responsible for debt origination for the real estate lending platform.
Prior to joining Glacier, Ms. Barone was Senior Vice President at G2 Real Estate Partners where she was responsible for originating debt and equity investments for the firm. Prior to G2, Ruth was the President and Founder of Glenmere Capital Partners, a real estate investment banking and advisory firm, where she was responsible for the execution of structured finance transactions, joint ventures and the sale and restructure of commercial real estate debt.
Previously, Ms. Barone was Managing Director of Stillwater Capital Partners LP, Real Estate Asset-Backed Funds where she managed a $300M commercial real estate loan portfolio, structured fund level debt and formed participations with other funds and institutions. Ms. Barone spent 12 years as Senior Vice President at Carlton Advisory Services, Inc. where she was responsible for billions of dollars of structured financing, across all asset classes.
Ms. Barone’s speaking engagements have included Looking Beyond the Crisis (Citiscape Connect NYC); The Great Recovery I: Restructuring the Real Estate Market (Princeton Club of New York); Real Estate Lending Today (MBA Lenders Panel); and Acquiring and Profiting from Distressed Loans Herrick, Feinstein, LLP).
Vice President, Finance
Sean is Vice President of Financial Operations for Glacier. Sean has 11 years of experience as a Senior Fund Administrator at a New York based Hedge Fund. Sean was responsible for daily operations and accounting, including intraday/end of day reconciliation, trade entry, and trade settlement. He also monitored and assisted in the resolution of issues while working closely with the trading group as well as the back office. Sean also provided training and assistance for new employees.
Sean received a BA in Business Administration from SUNY Geneseo.
Founder & Managing Member
Yaniv is the founder of Glacier and is responsible for the company's strategic direction and oversees the company's investments and day-to-day management including origination, underwriting, closing, investor relations and asset management functions. Yaniv has over 20 years of real estate experience, 13 years of which have been with leading Wall Street firms where he was responsible for structuring, underwriting, pricing, securitizing and syndicating over $16 billion of commercial real estate loans and equity transactions.
Prior to Glacier, Yaniv was a Managing Director at Bear Stearns / JP Morgan Chase, responsible for structuring and closing over $2 billion real estate debt and equity transactions for institutional clientele. Prior to Bear Stearns, Yaniv was a Managing Director and Head of the CMBS Capital Markets Group for the US at EuroHypo AG, then world’s largest real estate investment bank. In that capacity, Yaniv built a large loan CMBS group and oversaw the structuring, pricing, securitization and syndication functions and served on the bank’s investment committee in charge of approving all transactions. Yaniv designed and implemented risk-control measures, standardized underwriting and pricing models and structured over $4 billion of real estate loans. Yaniv grew the large loan CMBS business from $600 million to $3 billion within 12 months of joining the firm.
Other positions held by Yaniv included Senior Vice President at Lehman Brothers, PaineWebber/UBS, and Daiwa Securities. Prior to joining the banking industry, Yaniv worked as a real estate consultant at Ernst & Young real estate consulting group, advising real estate owners and operators, and various investment banks.
Yaniv received a BS degree in real estate finance from Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. Yaniv is a member of the CRE Finance Council, was a guest lecturer at Columbia University, a speaker at the Mezzanine Debt industry conference, authored an article on Urban Time Sharing, and was a recipient of the YJP NYC Real Estate Entrepreneur & Achievement Award in 2013. He is also involved with various philanthropic organizations including AIPAC, and American Friends of Rabin Medical Center (AFRMC), among others.
